 It's taken me a few days of back and forth to settle on what I'd like to inquire about for my blog topic. After much consideration, I've decided that I'd like to explore the idea of using film as a medium for students to learn how to analyze certain themes and issues critically. Oftentimes, classes like film analysis are not available to high school students, especially in high schools that are underfunded and overcrowded. However, I think that a class that uses film as a means for literary analysis would be beneficial for engaging the students who might not be as interested in reading. It could also help with engaging students who are not as strong in their reading. There are many ways to go about teaching a film analysis/literature class, but I have never taken a film class that doubled as an English class, so I'm not sure exactly how they are structured.  hello! my name is katie lavris, and welcome to my blog! i used this blog for a class with candance last semester, hence the "2.0" in the title. my professional goals are not extremely detailed, but i would like to become a high school english teacher. the goal is to also help out with the drama club, speech team, and film club if the school i'm at has those already. if not, it would be super fun to start those! those are the things that really helped me push through high school, and i think that i could really help current students by giving them those outlets for their creativity. i recently found out that the school i'm student teaching at doesn't have a drama program at all, and i'm interested in seeing what i can do as a student teacher to change that!  i've attached a link that goes over the benefits of having drama clubs in schools! https://www.nfhs.org/articles/students-gain-many-benefits-from-involvement-in-theatre/
