 hello! my name is katie lavris, and welcome to my blog! i used this blog for a class with candance last semester, hence the "2.0" in the title. my professional goals are not extremely detailed, but i would like to become a high school english teacher. the goal is to also help out with the drama club, speech team, and film club if the school i'm at has those already. if not, it would be super fun to start those! those are the things that really helped me push through high school, and i think that i could really help current students by giving them those outlets for their creativity. i recently found out that the school i'm student teaching at doesn't have a drama program at all, and i'm interested in seeing what i can do as a student teacher to change that!

    hi katie! i like your format for your blog. That's awesome you want to incorporate clubs into your profession. i also did theater in high school and enjoyed it a lot! are you also considering being a drama teacher? also, i appreciate the gif; that's great you are so driven!

ANNOTATED IMAGE     For this project, I decided to do an annotated image. I felt that this was the most appropriate because the students will be reading a graphic novel, and they probably won’t know certain graphic novel terms that are important or what to look for when they’re annotating. I chose this image specifically because it also has some things that can be annotated based on the lens the students would be using for this unit (which is gender/gender norms ), and it has a few good examples of graphic novel vocabulary words I would want students to know. To differentiate the two different reasons for annotating, I have added two different types of clickable points. The blue circles are showing what to look for/how to annotate for gender norms within the story.   INTRODUCTION Hello! Welcome to my third blog post!  I’ve decided that my imaginary class that I would be teaching these texts in would be a Film and Literature Class. It would be an elective that’s only available to upperclassmen in high school. As for how the texts would all work together, I would have different units that cover different “lenses” in this class. For example, in the gender lens unit, students would analyze different gender norms, tropes, etc. in the movies/books that we read. In this class, I would be focusing on three lenses: race, gender, and mental health.  **Also, I would have students all get permission slips filled out by parents/guardians in the beginning of the semester because some of the movies are rated ‘R’ and I wouldn’t want that to be an issue halfway through the semester.
